Question #4 is related to these goals of Water Data Act:
(4) identify available and unavailable water data.
Identifying missing water use data is important to accurately account for all of New Mexico’s water use.
(2) develop an integrated water data and information platform;
Integrating data from various data producers is necessary to understand where we have real time monitoring
Real Time - electronic capture, (does it end up on paper?) , being able to create time series graph bc you know they are measuring daily, being able to have finger on pulse of trends in NM water, we’re in a drought – where are the biggest problems? GW, SW, Reservoir levels dropping
Color code the age of the data – know the age of the data at a glance e.g. new= red (red hot), old (blue), need a freshness stamp , need a simple visual, use case could be helpful – I care about how much water in my region – how to visualize? Color stamp?, 5 year picture?, trying to visualize vertical changes in GW over time, XYZ and time – 4 dimensions

Datasets used in WUCR – valuable to have Julie use the datasets in water data service. Avoid getting data from David Anderson. We need to get datasets that she needs. Allows us to understand the datasets. Reduces workload.
My specific focus for the Water Use by Categories project are:
A. Kyle’s ideas about providing direct access to some of the data features (multiple sources of water use data, such as produced water, agriculture water use, ET, etc.)
USDA survey
Pieces of data that not in waters but are used in WUCR
Other data sources used to pull together information
B. Cross-walk with PWS and WATERS locations (NMED - OSE link up)

C. Kyle’s idea about map features – and showing the different sources (Table showing data and sources for annual water use, population and area, PWS NAME)

Notes from WUCR:
Public Water Supply
Withdrawal data for the majority of PWSs were obtained from NMOSE meter records or via the aforementioned surveys. For entities for which data were unavailable, information was either taken from NMED’s Water & Sewer Rate Surveys, or estimated based on population and the appropriate GPCD value for the Self-Supplied Domestic category.

Calculations in this Report used 2015 weather data from weather stations around the state. Parameter-elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model (PRISM) climate mapping system data were used in situations where weather stations were no longer in operation, or when gaps in weather data existed.
Self-Supplied Livestock
The New Mexico Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Statistics Service, reports livestock population data annually, by species and county, in a report titled 2015 New Mexico Agricultural Statistics (NMDA, 2016). Livestock population data for this Report were taken not only from the agricultural statistics report, but also from the NMTRD.

Happening now: Standardize data to get data into WDS based on recs for data tables from WATERS
Showing it to Julie and others - for feedback as early as possible
PODs tables, meter info table, meter readings table, have no data in them – just headings
We can map out what fields go into platform to answer Julie and other water use questions
Next step – get arrangement to get data – create the data stream - new data constantly being updated
Stacy to reach out to NMED for PWS
Emily – to reach out to Julie to ask for PWS area boundaries - put it in the list to sensor things, CKAN,
Jeannette – working on OSE stream gage data - map it into sensor things framework
Call on Thurs with a person to create visualization tool to address drought issues. He’s looking for the sources of data. He has funding. Use his energy to make map of reservoir levels. Needs help getting to the data and such.
Sensor Things client – build a visualization map - outside facing in – doesn’t matter how many data sources get onboarded, you can use the visual tool to look at any dataset. He is doing stuff on drought and reservoir levels. Demonstrate the functionality. He’ll interview data providers. He can be on front and back end of project on the one dataset.

He’s going to demonstrate what he’s been doing in other states
