Problem. How are datasets added to the system?

Lets first classify the types of datasets

  • Text

    • csv, txt, json or xls file

    • normalized

    • non-normalized

    • single file or directory

  • Database

    • an agencies data stored in a database

  • API

    • an agencies data stored in a database and exposed via a REST or SOAP service

 

For the text class data the process has been

  1. express interest to stacy that agency wants to add data to WDI

  2. the data is emailed to stacy

  3. stacy/jeanine adds the data to CKAN manually

there is also now an effort proposed to take the links in Amy’s spread sheet and add them to CKAN manually.
